Chile announces its First Covid-19 Death

Breaking News (March 21,2020): Local TV reported today at 1400 hours local time that an 82 year old woman from Santiago had died due to Covid-19 infection. All that is known about the lady is that her first name is Sonia and was living in the northern suburb of Renca. Until now there are near to 250 cases of Covid-19 in Chile, most of which have appeared in Santiago, especially in the more upscale district of Las Condes. Many residents of the capital are mugrating to the coastal áreas to try and isolante themselves from the focus of infection. The goverment implemented a State of Catastrophe a few days ago , and now Army personnel are patrolling the main cities and highways.It is expected that the Covid-19 vírus will spread even faster as temperaturas get lower since winter begins in Chile at the end of May.
